Answer to Question 1

1
Explanation: 1. The manager should address the behavior in private and investigate the situation. It may or
may not be appropriate to give a warning. As part of the investigation it would be appropriate
to discuss the complaints of staff in a general manner. It is inappropriate to have nursing staff
address the issues amongst themselves.

Answer to Question 2

3
Explanation: 1. The employee has a right to appeal an appraisal and document his version of the facts. The
employees decision to follow up with the HR director is appropriate. The employee should
sign the appraisal after the appeal process and proper documentation regarding the facts. It is
inappropriate for another staff nurse to review the appraisal.
