Injection drug users are at risk for other health complications. This population represents a rapidly growing source of new cases of AIDS. Emphasis is being placed on reducing the transmission of this disease through contaminated needles.
 
  A community health nurse can provide education about: 1. How and where to acquire safe needles
  2. The proper way to use a needle and possible injection sites
  3. AIDS transmission via heterosexual and homosexual activities
  4. Cleaning needles with bleach between uses and needle exchange programs
