Answer to Question 1

C
Feedback:
Thick description refers to a rich, thorough, and vivid description of the research context, the people who participated in the study, and the experiences and processes observed during the inquiry. Thick description includes the free use of verbatim quotes from study participants and contributes to the authenticity of a qualitative study. According to Sandelowski, thick description should be implicit in the description of the research context and the term itself should not be written in the research report. In high-quality qualitative studies, descriptions typically need to go beyond a faithful rendering of information. Powerful description is evocative and has the capacity for emotional impact. Qualitative researchers should, however, avoid misrepresenting their findings by sharing only the most dramatic or sensational stories.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Searching for disconfirming evidence is a verification procedure that challenges an explanation or category that has emerged early in data analysis. It occurs concurrently with data collection and analysis. Negative case analysis is a procedure to continuously refine a hypothesis or theory until it accounts for all cases. Saturation of data occurs when data collection yields redundant information. Triangulation is the process of using multiple referents to draw conclusions about what constitutes the truth. Eliminating confounding cases would be the opposite of including disconfirming evidence.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
