Answer to Question 1

Ans: B
Feedback:
The most appropriate question to ask first is, It's normal for couples to disagree about things. What happens when you and your partner disagree? This question is open-ended and allows the client to share information about behavior that she may not even recognize as abuse. The other questions listed are more appropriate to ask as follow-up questions, once the woman has stated that she is being abused.

Feedback:
The federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) (42 U.S.C.A. 5106g), as amended by the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003 (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2003), defines child abuse and neglect as the following: any recent act, or failure to act, on the part of a parent or caretaker that results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act that presents an imminent risk of serious harm.
