1. Describe the regional presidential primaries system.
2. Highlight pros (brings more coherence to the process and encourages regional concerns) and cons (emphasizes the role of money and the media).
3. Compare the proposed regional presidential primaries system with the current system.

Answer to Question 2

An ideal response will:
1. Discuss the significance of party affiliation for candidate appeal, partisan effect on voting behavior during general elections, and coattail effect (the boost that candidates may get in an election because of the popularity of candidates above them, especially the president).
2. Explain the significance of political parties to elections.
