It is a period in which an individual is undergoing change from one state or status to another and so structure is opened momentarily and changed (there is a temporary dissolution of the established order).

Answer to Question 2

Monotheism is the belief in one god, while polytheism is the belief in many. However, in some religions, such as Hinduism, the many gods are aspects of a single source and so these two terms may overlap when applied to actual religions.
