Answer to Question 1

C
Feedback:
Contamination of drinking water with nitrates from fertilizers has been associated with increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but vegetables high in nitrates (such as spinach and beets) have not. Fluorides have not been proved to be associated with cancer. If the area is truly remote, industrial wastes are unlikely to be present in the drinking water.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Patients who are receiving sedation should be monitored for daytime sluggishness and confusion. Heart rate and blood pressure are not noted to be affected by these drugs and they are not associated with anticholinergic effects. Respiratory depression and sleep apnea are not noted to result from non-barbiturate sedatives.

Though Candida and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens causing invasive fungal disease in the immunocompromised, infections due to previously uncommon hyaline and dematiaceous filamentous fungi are occurring more often today. Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
