Answer to Question 1

Ans: A
Environmental modification can be a useful intervention in promoting sleep in older adults. While age-related changes do influence sleep in older adults, this does not mean that interventions and strategies are unnecessary in mitigating these changes. Alcohol consumption and the use of hypnotics are not recommended solutions to sleep disturbances.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: D
Older adults typically spend less time in deep sleep than do younger adults, though the overall quantity of sleep required remains fairly static throughout the adult life span. Older adults usually experience more sleep cycles during the night and experience longer sleep latency.
