Answer to Question 1

Ans: A, B, D
Chronic pain, functional impairment, and nutritional deficiencies are both contributing factors and consequences of depression in the older adult. Renal impairment and hypernatremia are not specifically related to depression.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: B
The affect of depressed people is generally sad and negativistic and is not influenced by external circumstances. By contrast, the affect of people who have dementia fluctuates more and changes in response to distractions.
