Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Normal age-related changes in urogenital structures include changes in the vagina, including a decreased ability to lubricate quickly, changes in the vaginal epithelium, and a rise in pH, all of which make the individual more susceptible to infection. It is not true that all older adults are unable to perform proper perineal hygiene. Neither a multitude of medications nor decreased fluid intake account for the increased incidence of vaginal infections in older women. This also may be a sign of diabetes.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Tinnitus is defined as a buzzing, clicking, or ringing in the ear. Thick, dry cerumen in the auditory canal, stiffening of the tympanic membrane, and atrophy of the organ of Corti are all causes of hearing loss in older adults, but they are not the definition of tinnitus.
