Answer to Question 1

Baby born before 37 weeks of gestation is considered premature or preterm. Normal gestation lasts 40 weeks.
Associated with low birthweight (less than 5 lbs).
Seven times more likely to die than infants of normal weight.
Nearly 100 times as likely to die from causes such as asphyxia, infections, and SIDS.
The lower the weight, the more poorly the baby will develop cognitively in school.

Answer to Question 2

1) Lie on the floor and rest your calves on a chair or bed at a 90 degree angle.
2) Close your eyes, extend your arms over your head, and take several deep breaths.
3) Place your hands on your abdomen and spend a few minutes focusing on your breathing.
