Biofeedback equipment is not meant to be used during a stressful experience, but as a means of training people to gain greater control of their physiological processes when they do encounter stress.

Thermal biofeedback is used to treat hypertension, migraine headaches, and Raynaud's disease (a condition that causes too little blood to flow into the fingers).
