Answer to Question 1

The terms physical activity and exercise, although often used interchangeably, are not the same. Physical activity refers to any movement produced by the muscles that results in expenditure of energy (measured in calories). Exercise is a type of physical activity that requires planned, structured, and repetitive bodily movement with the intent of improving one or more components of physical fitness. You can be physically active without exercising-and reap health rewards.

Answer to Question 2

A widening waist, or apple shape, increases the risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and metabolic syndrome (excess weight, high blood pressure, and high levels of cholesterol and blood sugar).
