(any three or more of the following):
1. A sense of humiliation
2. Fear that no one will believe them
3. They have been abused to the point of believing that they deserve the bad treatment
4. Belief that not hitting back is a sign of strength or honor
5. Lack of awareness and support services for abused men

Answer to Question 2

Phase 1 = Tension building - involves breakdowns in communication and increasing anger, tension, and fear.
Phase 2 = Incident of acute battering - the attacker inflicts violence, possibly to teach a lesson to the victim.
Phase 3 = Remorse/reconciliation - the attacker may be kind and loving and apologize, promising to change.
