Answer to Question 1

Answer: Answer should focus on the time of day that a person's smoking occurs. The highest indicator of addictive behavior is smoking early and frequently during the day.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answer should include a description of the changes in benefits within each timeframe of cessation. The conclusion should include that the decrease in effects and risks of smoking occur at the highest rate within the first 48 hours and first year of cessation and continue at a much slower rate until the risks become equal to that of a non-smoker after 15 years.
