Answer to Question 1

Dental informatics is the application of computer and information sciences to improve dental practice, research, education, and management. The field of dental informatics is growing as dentists are beginning to realize the value of expert systems, automated clinical alerts and warnings, and digital information for clinical practice. Systems have been developed for digital imaging, digital radiology, digital charting, computer-assisted design and manufacture of dental restorations, and diagnostic aids. Dentists must keep up with these emerging technologies to be able to make in-formed decisions in their clinical practice.
