Minimally invasive surgery, utilizing an endoscope, performs procedures through small incisions that involve a minimum of damage to healthy tissue. Some endoscopic surgeries involve electronic cutting tools, posing some risk for the patient. However, there is less bleeding and pain and a shorter recovery time. This means a shorter hospital stay and lower costs.
