If a patient seen in this department is sent home but is admitted as an inpatient in three days or less how does that affect the hospital's billing?

Answer to Question 1

The emergency department cannot bill for the visit. If the patient is admitted to the hospital within 72 hours, the billing must be based on the inpatient stay.

Answer to Question 2

An epidemic is an excess in the number of cases of a given health problem.To determine what constitutes an excess implies knowing what is normal or to be expected. Thus, the very definition of epidemic is based on statistics.
