In 2010, researchers reported that, worldwide, 7 percent of disease can be traced to unsafe sanitation and drinking water, together with poor hygiene. Two million child deaths per year could be prevented by improving hygiene, sanitation, and water supply. This is mostly a problem of rural areas in poor developing countries
