It uses the principles, theories, and analyses of biogeography to address the problems of biodiversity conservation. Among the areas of research in conservation biogeography are the distribution and effects of invasive species, the impacts of global climate change on biodiversity, and the implementation of conservation planning and the establishment of protected areas.
