Answer to Question 1

In part, the geopolitical situation is different because it was the site of a proxy war between the Soviet Union and the United States, and because historically different foreign powers have sought control of the region for strategic reasons. Also, it was never completed under the control of any superpower (i.e., Britain, Soviet Union, the United States) thus making it different from other countries that were, or remain, under the Russian or Chinese political orbit. Lastly, it has linkages with other world regions: India and Pakistan in South Asia as well as Iran in Southwest Asia.

Answer to Question 2

FALSE

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
