How might a major project for transferring water from Turkey to the Arabian Peninsula affect the development of Saudi Arabia? What would be some of the potential political and ecological ramifications of such a project?

Such a project might provide needed water to an arid region, thereby increasing its agricultural potential. However, such a project would pass through some politically unstable locations, such as Syria or Iraq. Given that these locations are largely arid, they would demand access to water as well. Ecologically such a project might increase the salinization of agricultural areas.
