Answer to Question 1

The African diaspora was largely the result of a brutal and enforced slave system; the Caribbean diaspora, conversely, emerged largely as a result of limited economic opportunities. Many people who comprise the Caribbean diaspora are, in fact, themselves part of the African diaspora. The two diasporas are comparable; however, the major difference is that the African diaspora was initially forced and while the Caribbean diaspora is (arguably) by choice. One might argue, however, that limited economic opportunities do not constitute a choice.
