Answer to Question 1

General transfer is the ability to apply knowledge or skills learned in one context to a wide variety of different contexts. For example, general transfer would occur if playing chess helps a person learn math, since both require logic.

Answer to Question 2

In Maslow's hierarchy, the deficiency needs include survival, safety, belonging, and self-esteem. These needs must be met before learners will move toward self-actualization needs such as intellectual achievement and aesthetic appreciation. This suggests that learners will first react to the way their teachers treat them as human beings. The human dimension precedes the intellectual one.
