Answer to Question 1

Stream discharge is calculated by multiplying the velocity times the cross-sectional area: (Q = V x A).

Answer to Question 2

Stream gradient is calculated by dividing the difference between the highest and lowest elevations by
the horizontal distance over which the stream flows
