All you need for dunes to form is an abundance of sand, a lack of stabilizing vegetation, and wind. In
non-desert coastal dune fields, the sand supply simply overwhelms the vegetation.

direction is toward the west because there is a general westward convergence of airflow toward the
equator due to the Coriolis effect. These winds are called the trade winds. They occur both north and
