There is no natural example. All natural systems require an ultimate energy source.

Earth's surface environment is a balance of forces, some imposed externally (sunlight and related
winds, rainfall), some imposed internally (tectonic forces). Life modifies the interaction of these
forces, helping create soils and the landscapes to which we are accustomed.
