Answer to Question 1

Continental crust is less dense and thicker than oceanic crust. Block B is analogous to continental crust and sits up higher in the mantle than oceanic crust. Block A is analogous to oceanic crust because it is denser and thinner than continental crust and therefore sits lower into the mantle (this lower elevation is below sea level on Earth).
