Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The P wave signals atrial depolarization. Within 0.1 sec, the atria contract, causing a slight rise in both atrial and ventricular pressures (the A waves).

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
As the blood loss becomes more severe (20), atrial receptor activity decreases further. This in-creases the intensity of sympathetic discharge from the cardiovascular centers. Plasma ADH and heart rate continue to climb, as does peripheral vasculature tone.

It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
