Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
CaO2 = (Hb  1.34) SaO2 + (SaO2  0.003).
CaO2 = (14 gm  1.34) 0.90 + (80 mm Hg 0.003).
CaO2 = 17.12 vol.
CO2 = (Hb  1.34) SO2 + (PO2  0.003).
CO2 = (14 gm  1.34) 0.65 + (35  0.003).
CO2 = 12.3 vol.
Q = O2  (CaO2  CO2) 10.
Q = 210 mL/min  (17.12 mL/100 mL  12.3 mL/100mL) 10.
Q = 4.36 mL/min.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
If air is used to inflate the balloon and the balloon ruptures, an air embolism is possible.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
