Facultative anaerobes have limited oxygen tolerance. Heterotrophs require complex nutrients to exist. Autotrophs require simple inorganic nutrients to exist. Only anaerobes cannot live in oxy-gen environments.

Ventilator-associated pneumonia is most commonly caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus spp.
