Answer to Question 1

D
Most patients who have cardiac surgery are placed on mechanical ventilation until it is shown that they are stable and awake enough to wean from the ventilator. None of the other procedures should require ventilator support for the patient.

Answer to Question 2

C
Streptococcus pyogenes is a gram-positive bacteria, not a parasite. S. pyogenes is not associated with the development of lung abscess.
