The nurse should also encourage fluid intake to at least 2 L/day, and encourage rest periods before meals because fatigue can interfere with appetite and desire to eat. The nurse should also recommend fluids after meals. Consuming fluids with meals may cause feelings of fullness, interfering with the client's ability to complete the meal.
