The nurse is responsible for making sure the permit is in the records. The nurse should also determine which of the client's regularly scheduled medications should be taken the morning of surgery and allow the client to take them. The nurse should make sure arrangements have been made for the person to get home after surgery because clients are not allowed to drive, and make sure the client has someone to stay with him or her at home for at least 2448 hours after surgery.
