Answer to Question 1

C
Feedback:
The VAC machine applies controlled localized negative pressure to a sound site. This increases the growth of granulation tissue and decreases healing time. The system is particularly useful in treatment of stage III and stage IV pressure ulcers.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
The CMS is an agency established to promote increased use of technology as a means of improving management of chronic diseases, ultimately to reduce the incidence of avoidable rehospitalizations. The QIOs in each state are also contracted by CMS to work with home care agencies. Payment for home care is based on selected OASIS outcome measures, the new version of which (OASIS-C) became effective January 1, 2010 . After OASIS data are collected, the client is assigned to a HHRG for a given episode of care, which is usually a 60-day period.
