Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
A common pathogenic bacterium that may become penicillin-resistant is Staphylococcus aureus. A dangerous organism known as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) can cause life-threatening illness because it does not respond to antibiotics. This has become a serious problem in healthcare facilities and in the general population.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
An arthrogram requires the use of dye to determine joint condition. Before giving a radiopaque dye, the nurse should ask the client if he or she has any sensitivities to foods, especially any shellfish or medications containing iodine, as well as any sensitivities to latex or medications. Clients who have metallic implants, such as orthopedic screws, may not be eligible for MRI scanning. Severe damage and death can result if metallic implants are exposed to the intense magnetic fields of an MRI. Following a bone scan, the nurse should instruct the client to drink extra fluids, to increase excretion of the isotope. After arthroscopy, the nurse should elevate the client's joint and apply ice to control edema and pain.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
