Answer to Question 1

C
Feedback:
Several factors must be considered for an antibiotic to be effective. It should not cause an adverse or allergic reaction, nor should it affect the normal flora (normal and useful bacteria) that usually reside in the human body. An antibiotic must be soluble in water and must diffuse readily into body tissue. Furthermore, if given orally, it should be well absorbed by the GI tract. Finally, it should not be antagonistic to other antibiotics.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
Low birth weight is less than 5.5 lb and preterm is born before the completion of the 37th week gestation. Term babies are born from the 38th week, but before completion of the 41st week. Very low birth weight is 1 to 3.5 lb.
