Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback:
Infusions given peripherally must be hypotonic or isotonic (to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance). Total parenteral nutrition is used when the gastrointestinal tract is functioning improperly, such as in stomach cancer, or when a person has multiple trauma, severe infection, burns, or multiorgan failure. TPN is infused directly into the blood circulation and bypasses the digestive tract. Several types of catheters (tubes) are used. The large catheter is surgically placed into the central vein near the heart to allow the concentrated solution to be diffused quickly into the circulation.

Answer to Question 2

D
Feedback:
Four basic structural levels are found within the body. Organs are made up of tissues. Cells are the basic units. Tissues are made up of cells. Systems are made up of organs.
