Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
The nurse should ask a female professional translator to help. Female clients are more comfortable discussing health problems through a female translator. The nurse need not ask questions that can be answered by a yes or no; the nurse should avoid using technical terms during conversation, or using simple words and speaking slowly. These methods can be used if the client understands English as a second language

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
An interpreter should be able to communicate without implying judgment, bias, or personal opinions. The interpreter should not speak loudly, communicate using slang, or paraphrase what the client says.

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
