Answer to Question 1

A
A laissez-faire, or nondirective, leader deliberately intervenes as little as possible. When team members are independently motivated yet cohesive, much can be accomplished over a period of time. Chaos can occur, however, if individual needs and agendas interfere with the overall goals of the group.

Answer to Question 2

D
Authoritarian and autocratic leaders use power to influence others and affect outcomes. Howev-er, if the autocratic leader just assumes power without earning the subordinates' respect, that power can foster resentment. Authoritarian power exerted in an acute crisis situation, however, can effectively influence outcomes.
