Assessment of patient learning is a required element of patient education. However, shorter patient stays make this step challenging, and we tend to evaluate learning immediately after teaching.
 
  However, this may not be the most accurate time for evaluation of learning. Choose the statement that best explains why. a. It takes time to truly incorporate what is learned, so immediate evaluation is not as accurate.

Assessment of the patient's learning is often completed at the time the teaching is done, yet in reality an assessment done a day or two later may be a better indicator of the retention and in-corporation of new information or behavior changes.
