Answer to Question 1

Ans: D
Feedback:
Informing the neighbor that he can't share confidential information is an honest answer. It would be better to explain how laws prevent disclosing information than to be less than truthful with others. Telling the neighbor he will check it out tomorrow or that he doesn't know is not being honest in providing an answer to the neighbor's question. Although they may all be friends, a nurse is prevented by HIPPA laws from disclosing any information to anyone.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: A
Feedback:
Reporting a nurse who was observed putting a client's medication in her pocket represents a dilemma of not knowing what the nurse intends to do with the medication. Inappropriate behavior at a social function is not a dilemma since the nurse was not on duty. There is a legal obligation to report the unlicensed nurse. A licensed nurse has a legal obligation to report child abuse regardless of where it occurs.
