Rationale: The patient is the primary source of scatter as the primary beam enters the patient and transmission is through or deflected.

Answer to Question 2

articular pillar

Rationale: The articular pillar is the wedge of bone positioned between the superior and inferior articulating processes on cervical vertebrae C2-6 . The lateral mass is the wedge of bone between the superior articular facet and inferior articulate process on C1.
