Answer to Question 1

mA and time

Rationale: Density is directly proportional to time and mA selected. If the mA is doubled, the quantity of radiation is doubled. mA and time or mAs has a direct effect on image density.

Answer to Question 2

cross-table lateral skull

Rationale: A patient with a possible basilar skull fracture will present as trauma and will be unable to assume non-trauma positioning. A basilar skull fracture will result in cerebrospinal fluid and or blood pooling in the body of the sphenoid or the sphenoid sinus cavity. A cross table lateral will produce an air fluid level in the sphenoid sinus.
