Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
The BIS (bispectral index) allows the anesthesia provider to accurately track the patient's level of consciousness by using an electrode applied to the patient's forehead that sends EEG-like signals to a small monitor. A reading of 100 means wide awake; 0 means absence of brain activity.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Prostigmin inhibits the destruction of acetylcholine released from parasympathetic nerves. It is used to reverse nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents.
