Answer to Question 2

A
Chronic substance use or infection can be the source of a sudden development of paranoia among an older adult. Some forms of substance abuse can lead to elevated levels of paranoia. In particular individuals who abuse methamphetamines oftentimes display extremely heightened levels of paranoia, particularly when under the influence of the drug. In addition, neurosyphilis can cause paranoid delusions as well.
