Answer to Question 1

A
Individuals treated with TCM usually believe that the goal of healing is to be in harmony with one's
environment and all of creation in mind, body, and spirit and that all healing is manifested as a
simultaneous yin and yang reflection of the whole being in a state of transition. Transformation is
recognized as a stage of healing occurring when mutual creative active participation occurs between
healers and the client toward changes in the mind, body, and spirit. For this client, this statement
would suggest a desirable outcome. Option B may or may not be necessary for the client. Option C
may not be an outcome desired by the client. Option D is an outcome easily understood by Western
practitioners but is one that may not be easily understood by the user of TCM.

Answer to Question 2

B
In circular causality, the presenting problem of the identified patient must be viewed from many
different perspectives: stressors, strengths, family's current life cycle stage, sociocultural context,
mutigenerational issues, and so forth rather than from a single cause and effect. Option A: Cause and
effect is too simplistic a framework. Option C is terminology without meaning to family theory.
Option D: Emotional reactivity is a term that is too narrow to be correct.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
