Answer to Question 1

B
Restraints may be imposed only on the written order of the physician that specifies the duration
during which the restraints can be used. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations guidelines and Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act regulations also mandate a
number of other conditions that must be considered and documented before restraints are used. The
other orders would be considered appropriate for implementation.

Answer to Question 2

C
The identification of poor differentiation of family members calls for a goal of greater
differentiation, that is, members developing a greater sense of individual selves. Differentiation does
not relate directly to triangulating, improving the clarity of communication, or looking at family life
cycles.
