Answer to Question 1

ANS: 1
The client must understand that as a human being she has the right not to be abused. Victims of abuse should be given this information in a respectful way to counteract their feelings of guilt and shame. Option 2 suggests that the client had a role in provoking the battery. Option 3 side-steps the real issue. Option 4 continues to look at factors within the client.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 4
This is a realistic outcome for a client who is beginning to consider leaving the abusive situation. Option 1 is premature. Option 2 is more related to a problem of anxiety than to abuse. Option 3 is not an outcome that is in the client's best interest.
