Answer to Question 1

POTZ represents the Preferred Optimal Temperature Zone.
Amphibians are poikilotherms (cold-blooded is dated, inaccurate terminology) and are dependent upon environmental temperatures to maintain body temperature and metabolic activity. (Ectotherm is an acceptable response.)

Answer to Question 2

Human encroachment into habitats, destruction of habitat, insecticide, removal of food sources, over collection and exploitation to supply the hobbyist market and environmental concerns.
